About Covellite Presents

Our History

The Covellite Theatre, originally built as the First Presbyterian Church in 1896, is a true masterpiece. This Gothic cathedral has stood tall in the heart of Uptown Butte for 127 years, witnessing the city’s transformation. With its striking architecture, including a large Gothic arched window and a magnificent rose window, the Covellite offers a unique backdrop and sound for your performance.

“Covellite” is a rare, iridescent indigo blue copper sulfide mineral found in Mount Vesuvius, Germany, Argentina, and Silver Bow County, Montana, to name a few.

Our Mission

Covellite Presents engages, inspires, entertains & challenges audiences with theatrical productions that range from the classics to new works. We provide arts education programs that promote life-long learning to a diverse community; and we celebrate the essential power of the theatre to illuminate our common humanity.

Today the venue hosts a wide variety of events including: live music, stage plays, comedy, film, dance lessons, vaudeville, burlesque, workshops, classes, and fundraisers.
